The Relations Between High-Frequency Heart Rate Variability, Photoplethysmography, and Pulse Transit Time
Join MindWare Technologies on April 16th as we kick off our 2026 webinar series with a complimentary, practical deep-dive into the relationships between High-Frequency Heart Rate Variability (HF-HRV), photoplethysmography (PPG), and pulse transit time (PTT). We’ll start with a clear, approachable foundation: what HF-HRV represents, what PPG is actually capturing at the periphery, and how synchronized ECG + PPG timing can be used to derive PTT. From there, you’ll learn how to evaluate PPG signals with confidence and address common issues that can distort timing-based metrics—such as motion artifacts, poor sensor contact, clipping/saturation, baseline drift, and inconsistent pulse morphology. In the second half, we’ll walk through post-processing for PTT using IMP-style timing principles, calculating PTT as the millisecond delay between ECG and PPG landmarks. To wrap, we’ll ground your computed values back to study goals by discussing what PTT values can indicate, how to interpret PTT patterns, and key limitations and reporting considerations. Expect a technical, hands-on feel with practical examples, repeatable rules of thumb, and time for Q&A—so you leave with a clearer conceptual map and a more confident path from raw signals to analysis-ready PTT outputs!
