Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV): A Practical Guide to Arterial Stiffness Using Dual Impedance
Join MindWare Technologies on July 16th as our 2026 webinar series continues with a complimentary, practical deep-dive into Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV), and the use of dual Impedance Cardiography (d-ICG) to assess vascular timing and arterial stiffness. We will begin with a clear, approachable overview of what PWV reflects physiologically, why it is commonly used to assess arterial stiffness, and how d-ICG provides a noninvasive way to capture the vascular timing information needed to derive PWV. From there, we will move into the methodology of PWV collection, including electrode placement, waveform quality, signal morphology, and the practical measurement decisions that help produce clean, interpretable data. In the second half, we will focus on the processing pipeline used to move from raw signals to PWV output. After a brief refresher on ECG and thoracic dz/dt, we will walk through the recommended sequence of ECG editing, thoracic dZ/dt editing, calf dZ/dt editing, and post-hoc PWV calculation in the statistical program of your choice. We will also call out several important calf dZ/dt setting differences up front, including options that can improve visualization during acquisition and analysis settings that better support detection of pulse arrival at the periphery. Expect a technical, practical session with clear examples, a guided scoring demonstration, and time for Q&A - so you leave with a stronger conceptual understanding of PWV and a clearer path from raw d-ICG signals to analysis-ready outputs.
